
West African Insurance Institute Announces Appointment of Professor Olufemi Adebowale Abass as Incoming Director General/Head of Mission
The Management, Governing Council, staff, students, alumni, and the entire WAII Family are delighted to officially announce the appointment of Professor Olufemi Adebowale Abass as the incoming Director General/Head of Mission of the West African Insurance Institute (WAII), Banjul, The Gambia.
Professor Abass will commence his duties as Director General Designate on 1st October 2026 and will formally assume office as Director General/Head of Mission on 1st January 2027.
This appointment marks an important milestone in the continued growth and transformation of WAII as a leading regional institution dedicated to insurance education, professional development, research, and capacity building across West Africa. Professor Abass brings with him a wealth of academic excellence, leadership experience, industry knowledge, and a strong commitment to advancing insurance and risk management education within the sub-region.
